Psychotherapy

In general, I work from an Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) approach. This model helps individuals take an honest look at the feelings and experiences that they have not been able to shed, so that they can finally move beyond them and live the life they want.

ISTDP is rapidly effective, and oftentimes patients say they get more out of the first session than they have in years of previous therapy. I frequently hear patients describe the deep sense of meaning, freedom, and purpose they have in their lives after treatment. As ISTDP is designed to be short-term, these results often appear quickly.

ISTDP Treatment: What to Expect

Initial Evaluation

The first step is to meet virtually over Zoom for an initial evaluation, or trial therapy, where we will explore your strengths and difficulties in depth, and get a sense of how I might be of help to you. This initial evaluation occurs over two 120 minute sessions about a week apart. Meeting for an extended period of time allows us to take an accurate history of your difficulties while also getting into the treatment from the start.

Ongoing Appointments

I work with patients on a weekly or biweekly schedule for 60-90 minute sessions.
